American Electric Power Reports Third-Quarter 2026 Earnings and Expands Capital Plan

American Electric Power reported third-quarter 2026 GAAP earnings of $1.187 billion, or $2.18 per share, and operating earnings of $1.216 billion, or $2.23 per share, exceeding analyst expectations. The company expanded its five-year capital plan through 2031 to $100 billion, targeting rate-base compound annual growth of more than 13%. AEP projected annual operating earnings per-share growth of 9% to 11% from 2027 through 2031 and raised its 2026 guidance to at or above the high end of its prior $6.25–$6.55 range, while also issuing initial guidance for 2027 and 2028.
