AST SpaceMobile Welcomes European LoI Signed By Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica And Vodafone To Explore A Potential Joint Bid For Mobile Satellite Services Spectrum

AST SpaceMobile has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone to explore a joint bid for mobile satellite services spectrum in Europe. This collaboration aims to enhance network integration and extend coverage to areas lacking reliable mobile connectivity, benefiting over 500 million mobile subscribers. AST SpaceMobile's BlueBird satellites, capable of peak download speeds of 98.9 Mbps, are designed to connect directly to standard smartphones, with future satellites expected to reach nearly 200 Mbps. The initiative supports a coordinated approach to spectrum access while maintaining data handling within European jurisdiction.
