CoreWeave Becomes First to Deploy Vera Rubin — Here's What Else Happened This Week

CoreWeave Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV) shares are trending Friday after a busy week that included a new AI cluster deployment, a major data center lease and a large capital raise. Scaling Agentic AI with Rubin NVL72 On September 16, CoreWeave announced the bring-up of a multi-rack NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 cluster on CoreWeave Cloud, connecting hundreds of NVIDIA Rubin GPUs into a single scale-out cluster designed for agentic AI workloads. The company also introduced two new capabilities in its AI Object Storage product, cross-region write acceleration and a new Archive tier, intended to keep data close to the GPUs powering those workloads. 15-Yr Data Center Lease Secures AI Capacity The same day, Blockfusion USA announced that its subsidiary, North East Data LLC, signed a definitive 15-year anchor lease with CoreWeave for capacity at Blockfusion’s Niagara Falls, New York campus, along with a companion expansion agreement. The lease, which includes two five-year renewal options, converts a non-binding letter of intent from June into a definitive agreement. The campus runs predominantly on low-carbon hydroelectric power at a site converted from a decommissioned power plant. Funding and Capacity Growth Accelerate On September 17, CoreWeave announced plans to raise $3.0 billion through a private offering of convertible senior notes due 2033, with an option for initial purchasers to buy up to an additional $500 million. The company also disclosed an at-the-market equity program covering up to 35 million shares of Class A common stock, alongside a note that it continues to contract new compute capacity at higher prices — signing contracts during the quarter at pricing equivalent to roughly $40 million in annualized revenue per megawatt of power.
