Eli Lilly has commenced construction on a $6.5 billion facility in Houston, Texas, which will manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients, including its GLP-1 medicine Foundayo. The site is part of Lilly's $50 billion initiative to reshore medicine production and is expected to create over 600 high-wage jobs. Additionally, the company plans to invest $12.5 million in workforce training in collaboration with San Jacinto College. Foundayo is currently under regulatory review in over 40 countries, with a global rollout anticipated in 2027.
