MBody AI Ltd. (NASDAQ:MBAI) AI CEO John Fowler sees casinos, resorts and convention centers as a far more difficult—and potentially much larger—automation opportunity than warehouses. Industrial floors helped establish the commercial case for autonomous robots because the environment is relatively predictable. A casino? Not so much. "Casinos are unique environments," Fowler told Benzinga in an email. There are crowded aisles, late-night surges, temporary event staging and changing lighting conditions, he explained. For MBody AI, however, a Mohegan Sun pilot program turned "promises into proof." MBody AI, which manages fleets of service robots, put its autonomous cleaning units into a 5.5-million-square-foot facility, including a high-traffic gaming floor and a 275,000-square-foot conference center. Fowler said the robots had to operate through daytime and evening shifts while maintaining cleaning standards without disrupting guests or gaming operations. That matters because the commercial challenge isn’t simply whether a robot can vacuum or scrub a floor. It is whether the machine can perform reliably when the surroundings keep changing. The Las Vegas-based company says the deployment helped demonstrate consistent operational output and ultimately supported the move from a pilot to a paid deployment. While large hotels, resorts and convention centers are more complicated, they also have enormous amounts of floor space that require continuous maintenance. That creates a straightforward business problem: repetitive work must be performed around the clock, while hospitality operators face labor availability and retention challenges. Fowler describes these properties as a "massive, underserved near-term commercial opportunity." MBody AI argues that solving automation in these public-facing spaces could let businesses redirect employees to higher-value, guest-facing responsibilities rather than eliminate the human workforce altogether. What’s Next Fowler says its Orchestrator platform can use operational data from one facility to improve subsequent deployments. Rather than designing a completely new solution for every property, the company is aiming for a standardized, cloud-connected platform that becomes more efficient as it expands. That creates a different robotics scaling story: the value isn’t necessarily limited to the number of machines sold, but could also come from what the software learns across an expanding fleet. For investors watching MBody AI, the next question is therefore less about whether a robot can clean a casino. It is whether the company can turn one difficult commercial environment into a repeatable model in other sectors. And the company’s next area of focus, according to Fowler, is healthcare — another industry with extensive facilities and frontline labor needs.
