(NASDAQ:META) that will allow customers to use Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent, to shop and complete purchases across PayPal’s global merchant network. The company said the deal will let PayPal customers “seamlessly shop and check out using their Muse personal AI agents” everywhere PayPal is accepted. The companies already maintain an existing payment relationship through Meta Pay, which lets users link a PayPal account to make purchases across Meta’s platforms, including the Meta Store. Setting that up involves connecting an account through Meta’s Accounts Center and completing a billing agreement, after which users can set preferences like PayPal Credit or PayPal Balance as their default payment method for future purchases. What the Muse Partnership Could Mean For PayPal Extending that existing payment relationship to Muse positions PayPal at the center of an emerging shift toward AI agents completing purchases on behalf of consumers, rather than people manually navigating checkout pages themselves. If Muse gains meaningful adoption, embedding PayPal as a default or preferred checkout option inside that experience could drive incremental transaction volume across PayPal’s merchant base without requiring those merchants to build separate integrations of their own.
