Sunrun, Tesla Set Record With 580 MW California Grid Dispatch

Sunrun Inc (NASDAQ:RUN) shares are trading higher on Monday after the company, along with Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA), said their home battery fleets supplied more than 580 megawatts of peak power to California’s grid on the evening of Sept. 9, 2026. • Sunrun stock is surging to new heights today. The three-hour evening dispatch came as California faced extreme heat, elevated electricity demand and higher wholesale energy prices. The 580 megawatts included 517 megawatts from Tesla Powerwalls and 63 megawatts from other residential batteries. About 110,000 Powerwalls participated, with 55% owned and operated by Sunrun. Sunrun also dispatched more than 30,000 customer batteries from other manufacturers. At the request of the California Energy Commission and utilities, the companies discharged customers’ home batteries to strengthen the grid’s operating margin and help lower real-time power prices.
