SCHMID Stock Rises as Nvidia, AMD, Intel Eye Glass Substrate Technology

SCHMID Group N.V. (NASDAQ:SHMD) shares are trading higher Monday on possible continued momentum after a report revealed that advanced chipmakers including Nvidia, AMD and Intel are considering using glass substrates in their processors. Schmid shares are climbing with conviction. What’s behind SHMD gains? Chipmakers’ Growing Interest in Glass Substrates According to a Seoul Economic Daily report, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently met with the chairman of SK Group to discuss the possibility of using glass substrate technology in next generation semiconductors and has reportedly held similar discussions with TSMC. Glass substrates are said to offer thinner, smoother packaging material than conventional alternatives, potentially increasing chip speeds, reducing power consumption, and allowing more high-bandwidth memory to be layered onto a single chip — a key advantage for AI workloads. “A lot of players in the Intel supply chain, in the Nvidia supply chain, AMD supply chain, you name them, are putting an eye on glass core substrates, in terms of its flatness, its smoothness, in terms of diverse constants like dielectric constants and signal integrity,” said Roland Rettenmaier, Chief Sales Officer of SCHMID, during the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call. “So we are engaged with most of or the major of the supply chain players, and we are supporting them with our technology and equipment to make glass core substrates real.” SCHMID, a German-based manufacturer specializing in high-tech electronics, photovoltaics, glass, and energy systems, has been developing glass substrate solutions and positioning itself as a supplier to chipmakers pursuing the technology.
