Smurfit Westrock To Acquire CMPC's Chilean Containerboard And Corrugated Business For $420M

Smurfit Westrock plc has announced its agreement to acquire the Chilean Containerboard and Corrugated business of Empresas CMPC S.A. for $420 million, which represents a post-synergy transaction multiple of less than 6 times Adjusted EBITDA. This acquisition includes a recycled containerboard mill, three corrugated plants, and one molded tray facility, enhancing Smurfit Westrock's market position in Chile and integration in southern Latin America. The company plans to fund the transaction with its own resources, with completion expected in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals.
