TransAlta Completes Sale of Oklahoma Wind Portfolio Stake and Acquisition of Colorado Gas Assets

On October 22, 2026, TransAlta Corporation completed two significant transactions: selling a 49% stake in its 500 MW Oklahoma wind portfolio for US$305 million to Ares Infrastructure funds, while retaining operational oversight, and acquiring Mountain Peak Power LLC and Canyon Peak Power LLC for US$1 billion, which includes US$750 million in assumed debt. The acquisition adds 318 MW of natural gas-fired peaking capacity near Denver, Colorado, to TransAlta's portfolio.
