Tesla Reopens Roadster Reservations Ahead of Oct. 1 Reveal: Here’s What You Need to Know

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) has reopened reservations for its long-delayed next-generation Roadster, asking prospective buyers for a $50,000 payment ahead of the electric sports car’s as the Elon Musk-led automaker gears up for an October 1st debut. $5,000 Initial Payment On Saturday, the automaker’s official website showed a reserve now tab on the Roadster page. Tesla says that the vehicle would require an initial $5,000 credit card payment, which would be fully refundable, following which interested buyers would be required to pay an additional $45,000 via wire transfer within 10 days of the initial $5,000 payment. In the Roadster terms and conditions, Tesla also says that it can only provide an estimated purchase price of the Roadster. “We are still working on what options, features and hardware the vehicle will have and so cannot confirm the exact price just yet,” Tesla said. The automaker also said that upon reservation, buyers would be invited by Tesla to configure their vehicles as the production of the vehicle nears. Tesla said buyers will receive an “order agreement” from the company. “You will be issuedan updated Order Agreement whenever you or we make changes to your configuration,” Tesla said. As far as refunds or cancellations are concerned, Tesla says that reservations can be cancelled by the buyer or Tesla as long as there is no “Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement” between the two parties. Tesla said that it will issue a full refund in the event of a cancellation. Excitement is Guaranteed, Says Elon Musk Last week, Musk, during an appearance on the All-In Podcast, said that the Roadster’s debut would need to have an audience present to verify that the demo is not AI-generated. “Success is not guaranteed, but excitement is,” Musk said during his appearance. The Roadster has been an elusive vehicle in the automotive industry, with tech leaders like OpenAI’s Sam Altman, as well as influencers like Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, having made reservations for the vehicle at some point. According to Benzinga Edge Rankings, Tesla scores moderately on the Growth and Quality metrics, but offers poor Value and Momentum. TSLA also fails to provide a favorable price trend in the Medium and Long term. Price Action: TSLA shares grew 0.69% to $366.79 during overnight trading.
