Tesla Cybercab Goes Made in Texas as Elon Musk Highlights Locally Manufactured Nickel Cathode: ‘From the First Cathode Plant in the Americas’

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk has touted the domestically sourced cathode used in the Cybercab’s battery, reaffirming the automaker’s domestic production prowess. Cybercab Uses Locally-Sourced Nickel On Wednesday, Musk quoted a post by the official Robotaxi handle on the social media platform X that showed the company had made the first Cybercab with locally sourced cathode material. “Made with nickel cathode manufactured locally at Gigafactory Texas,” Musk said. (NYSE:F) and more. American-made or sourced content in the automotive industry has become a major talking point, with the President Donald Trump administration imposing heavy tariffs on non-American content in vehicles. Multiple manufacturers have since shifted supply chains and also boosted U.S.-based production. Tariffs on non-American content in the automotive sector were also a major talking point in the U.S.-Canada trade negotiations, which fell through as both sides shifted blame on the other party. Rogan said that Tesla vehicles emitted more brake dust because of their weight, but his comments were pushed back on by Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt, who said that a lot of braking in Tesla cars was done using the regenerative braking system. Price Action: Tesla shares declined 0.56% to $378.00 during overnight trading on Wednesday.
