XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin, Analyst Says: 'Life Happens Fast'

Analyst Rob Cunningham says XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) could overtake Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) if enough capital moving onto the XRP Ledger actually converts into XRP itself. What Cunningham’s Thought Experiment Shows Widely-followed crypto analyst Cunningham posted on X Wednesday that $10 trillion migrating onto the XRP Ledger could support a multi-trillion-dollar XRP valuation, but only under one condition: substantial capital must also need to acquire and hold XRP itself, not just pass through the ledger. The math depends on three unknowns: How much new capital actually converts into XRP How long that capital stays in XRP How much liquidity sellers provide as price rises Cunningham pointed to a striking historical ratio to show the leverage effect: a net capital inflow of just $66 million to purchase XRP once triggered an approximate $45 billion increase in XRP’s overall valuation, a multiplier north of 600x. He framed this as a thought exercise rather than a prediction, noting Bitcoin’s market value currently sits roughly 17 times larger than XRP’s. “Life happens fast,” Cunningham wrote. “Especially during revolutionary times,” he added. The bull case, according to 21Shares, rests on four pillars: Regulatory clarity — SEC’s Ripple case ended August 2025 Institutional access — seven US spot XRP ETFs pulled in $1.3 billion in month one Network activity — XRP Ledger moved nearly $500 billion on-chain in 12 months Fixed supply — capped at 100 billion tokens, though this alone doesn’t guarantee price gains Benzinga also reported on September 10, Schwartz specifically said the scenario requires XRP growing faster than Bitcoin in a world where digital assets broadly succeed, rather than Bitcoin shrinking. He pointed to the XRP Ledger’s speed and functionality as the edge that could let it capture a disproportionate share of that growth. “I think that the world where that happens is the world where all the markets grow much, much larger,” Schwartz said. Why the Math Still Comes With Caveats Cunningham’s framework depends heavily on assumptions that remain unproven, particularly how much of the capital flowing through the XRP Ledger actually needs to sit in XRP rather than passing through as a bridge currency. Institutions can use the ledger for settlement while holding XRP only briefly, or bypass the token entirely using stablecoins and tokenized assets instead, meaning network growth and token price appreciation aren’t automatically linked.
